The goal of The Linn-Benton MicroBusiness Program is to help low-income individuals who want to start a business or build an existing business. The program is geared towards businesses that will have five or less employees and start-up capital needs of $35,000 or less.
Participants of the program have access to:
Training – We offer a 12-week workshop focused on building basic business skills, including preparing a business plan, and providing practical guidance in bookkeeping, marketing, financial projections and managing risk. Click here for a list of upcoming workshops.
Technical Assistance – We provide counseling, business plan assistance, and access to tools and resources.
Access to Capital – We provide access to Microloans and Individual Development Accounts (matched savings accounts).
Mentoring – We have a business mentoring program called, ExperienceXchange, that we offer in partnership with the Corvallis Independent Business Alliance, Downtown Corvallis Association, Benton-Corvallis Chamber Coalition, and the Small Business Development. Together we match experienced entrepreneurs and business professionals with new business owners. Our mentors are great resources for problem solving, brainstorming, and strategic planning.
